Absolutely! The Fuji X100 (original) from 2010 is still very much usable in 2025, though it does have some limitations compared to newer models. Here’s what to consider:

What Still Holds Up

  • Classic Design & Handling – The X100’s retro styling and intuitive controls are still beloved.

  • APS-C Sensor – While not the latest, its 12MP CMOS sensor still produces solid images in good light.

  • Fixed 23mm f/2 Lens – A fantastic focal length for street and documentary photography.

  • Hybrid Viewfinder – The OVF & EVF combination remains one of Fuji’s best innovations.

Where It Shows Its Age

  • Slow Autofocus – Can struggle in low light and with moving subjects.

  • Limited ISO Range – ISO 200-6400 isn’t as flexible as modern sensors.

  • Video Capabilities – Basic 720p video, not ideal for serious filmmaking.

  • Battery Life – Shorter than newer models; carrying spares is essential.

Still Worth Using?

If you love film-like colour, classic ergonomics, and a compact setup, the Fuji X100 remains a joy to shoot with. However, for better autofocus, dynamic range, and low-light performance, newer models like the X100V or an X-Pro series camera may be worth considering.
